"Arise, arise, King Arthur! Raise high your blade, restore the glory of Camelot once and for all!"

Knight vs. Giant is an upcoming action-adventure video game with roguelite elements based on the Arthurian Legend. The game is being developed by Indonesian developer Gambir Studio for PC and The Ninth Generation of Console Video Games.

Camelot has been destroyed. As King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table went on a journey to find the elusive Holy Grail of legends, a giant emerged from the mysterious Astral Plane and slayed every last one of them.

Fortuitously, Merlin — Royal Advisor to Camelot, wizard extraordinaire, and the resident eccentric — has enough power to resurrect just one hero. Thus, King Arthur himself was revived. With Camelot in ruins and a broken Excalibur in his hand, it's up to the Savior King himself to slay the giant, restore the Kingdom's glory, and find out just who — or what — is behind the downfall of Camelot.

During gameplay, the player controls Arthur and can equip the broken Excalibur with the powers of Knights of the Round Table, with each knight specializing in a different playstyle. As per the tradition of roguelites, the dungeons are procedurally generated with different layouts, enemies, power-ups, and items on each run, allowing the player to further build Arthur as they want (supposing the Random Number Generator allows for it, of course).

As the title suggests, the main bosses in Knight vs. Giant are giant beings big enough to fill half of the screen. The player has to use their strongest attacks and maneuver carefully to even have a chance of taking them down.

The game is currently planned to launch sometime in 2023.

Knight vs. Giant provides examples of the following tropes:

  • Camelot: The Kingdom serves as the hub area where Arthur can regroup, talk to NPCs, and prepare for his next venture into the dungeons.
  • David Versus Goliath: And how. The giant shown in the first trailer is many times Arthur's size, necessitating the camera to pull back just to show its whole body.
  • Excalibur: The legendary sword is now broken but Arthur can still wield it by imbuing it with the powers of his Knights of the Round Table.
  • Randomly Generated Levels: As to be expected of roguelites, the dungeons are not custom designed but rather procedurally generated to provide a varied experience to each run.
  • Randomly Generated Loot: Upon clearing a room of enemies, the player can find a statue of the Knights of the Round Table or a piece of the Round Table itself, offering three randomized Blessings to pick from.
  • Rock Monster: A type of enemies are rocks with eyes that will try to attack Arthur by tackling him.
  • Wicked Wasps: Big, fierce-looking wasps that shoot their stinger at Arthur are amongst the enemies the players will face.
  • Video-Game Lives: Run out of them, and Arthur will be resurrected back in Camelot, losing all the Blessings and items he gathered during the previous run.
