Isaac Survivors is a Game Mod for The Binding of Isaac that adapts the genre of Vampire Survivors into the gameplay of the former, replacing Greed mode with a horde survival mode. Isaac must endure hordes of enemies, and with their coin drops they obtain items each level to get as far as possible.

Tropes that apply to this game mode:

  • Challenge Run: One custom challenge added is the standard VS game mode with a twist: Isaac is blindfolded — he cannot fire his tears (by default) — and starts the run with three possible items to choose from (Aquarius, Baby familiars, Spear Of Destiny, etc), and he has to rely on other items like in a VS like game.
  • Developer's Foresight: You're normally confined to the "level-up box" until you picked your selection and moved on via pressing the button on the right, but if you somehow leave its boundaries note , it'll register as if you pressed the button to continue the run, preventing you from doing whatever without consequence.
  • Difficulty Levels: This Game Mod overrides the vanilla game's Greed and Greedier with 'standard VS' and 'VS Hard'. Harder difficulty, aside from tweaking the enemies like in the base game, results in the coins despawning outside Isaac's radius and the room resetting after each level up.
  • Game-Breaking Bug:
    • The Cursed Penny trinket is generally not worthwhile for this game-mode, as it normally teleports the player whenever they collect a single coin, which is especially useless in the context of the progression system. But in its case, it'll teleport the player into a Greed run Final Boss room, followed by the game crashing seconds into the fight.
    • The Glowing Hourglass, with its ability to reverse time to a prior room, is a versatile and useful active item in a normal run ...but using the effect in the single room, even beyond normal circumstances, results in Isaac warping back to the beginning of the run, losing all items obtained in the process. Worst of all, the run still registers as if a certain amount of time has already passed, resulting in the base level Player Character having to contend with later level enemies with all the drawbacks mentioned.
  • Money Is Experience Points: Coins in this game-mode spawn from all enemies as the equivalent exp gems, with each total earned (starting with twenty coins, plus twenty more onward each time) resulting in a level up. This also has the side effect of coins obtained via other means also contributing to the levelling system (via chest/sack drops, Keeper's Head, Midas Touch, Tainted Keeper, etc).
  • Obvious Rule Patch: All rooms outside the general maps of Isaac, namely the Angel/Devil deals and I AM ERROR room, are not a factor here, with there also being only one room to work with. As such, many items that wouldn't make sense without all those factors don't spawn normally, items that are capable of teleporting Isaac into those rooms merely teleport him into a refreshed arena.
