Harthorn is a Horror Game by Vincent Lade.

The game is set in 1994, and has you play as an unnamed security guard who's on his first shift at Harthorn High School, which has closed for winter break. Your job is basically to patrol the halls, make sure everything's in its place, and make sure there's no one else around. And you also have a radio contact in a woman named April, who's a graduate of Harthorn, and can tell you about that old school rumour about why they stopped having classes in the basement after the new wing was installed.

On your first night, you're sent to investigate a broken window at Harthorn that set off the new security system... and you start learning of a dark part of the school's past.

The game was released on October 27th, 2020.

Harthorn contains examples of:

  • The '90s: The game is set in winter break, 1994.
  • Air-Vent Passageway: You're forced to use the vents to get out of the gym and into the North Wing of the school.
  • Autosave: The game does this whenever you see "Saving" in the top right corner of the screen.
  • Berserk Board Barricade: One of the doors in an old classroom in the basement is boarded up near the beginning of the game. When you return to it later on, the boards have all been removed.
  • Enter Solution Here: A couple of puzzles in the school involve finding the code to unlock a chest or a door.
  • Fade to Black: Happens whenever a change of scenery is needed.
  • The Ghost: Pretty much the staff of Harthorn High School. They're only ever referred to in messages from each other that you find around the school.
  • Lock and Key Puzzle: The school updated to using key cards and number pads after an unspecified incident. Despite this, you can still find keys that open doors.
  • One-Word Title: Harthorn, naturally.
  • The Place: Again, Harthorn.
  • P.O.V. Cam: You play the game from a first-person perspective.
