Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters is a video game tie-in for the Green Lantern (2011) film.

The player plays as Hal Jordan as he fights against the Manhunters, robotic precursors to the Green Lantern Corps who wish to obliterate all Green Lanterns as well as their creators the Guardians.

The game was released on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii, Nintendo DS and Nintendo 3DS.

Tropes:

  • Adaptational Early Appearance: Amon Sur in the comics made his debut well after Sinestro became evil and eventually became a member of the Sinestro Corps. In this game, Amon Sur becomes an enemy of the Green Lantern Corps while Sinestro is still a loyal Green Lantern and the Sinestro Corps has yet to be founded.
  • Big Bad: In the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions, Amon Sur is revealed to be behind the Manhunter uprising and has orchestrated it to enact his revenge against the Green Lanterns for his father Abin Sur's ring going to Hal Jordan rather than Amon.
  • Final Boss: Amon Sur is the final boss faced in the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions, while the Wii, DS and 3DS versions have the final boss fight being against the Spider Guild queen.
  • Mecha-Mooks: As the Manhunters are both robots and out to get the Green Lantern Corps, it's no surprise that almost every enemy and boss is one of them.
  • Mythology Gag:
    • Amon Sur and the Manhunters fight using the yellow fear energy, alluding to their connections with the Sinestro Corps in the comic.
    • There is a boss fight with the Zamarons' leader Queen Aga'po where she is corrupted by the yellow energy, which is a reversal of the premise of the Sins of the Star Sapphires arc where the Star Sapphires attempted to brainwash female members of the Sinestro Corps into Star Sapphires, most conversions being unsuccessful.
  • Reformulated Game: The version of the game on Nintendo consoles is decidedly different from the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions, being a Metroidvania-style platformer and including Green Lanterns who appear in neither the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions nor the original film, such as Arisia Rrab, Ch'p and Von Daggle. In contrast, the version of the game on Xbox 360 and PS3 is a third-person action-adventure game with the only Green Lanterns aside from Hal Jordan appearing being Kilowog, Sinestro and Tomar-Re.
  • Revenge of the Sequel: The game's subtitle is "Rise of the Manhunters".
  • Spared by the Adaptation: Amon Sur in the comics was killed by Laira. Here, he is arrested after Hal Jordan defeats him.
  • Warm-Up Boss: The version of the game on Nintendo systems starts with a sparring session with Sinestro.
