Gargoyles is an Action/Platformer game loosely based on the Gargoyles animated series (more especifically, on the show's Season 1). The game was released for Sega Genesis in late 1995. Almost 30 years later, it was reworked into Gargoyles Remastered for Microsoft Windows, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S on October 19, 2023.
The Gargoyles video game provides examples of the following tropes:
- Always Night: Stage 1, the castle, and the Stage 3, New York's night skyline, occur in external areas where nighttime is visible. Aside from the dramatic effect, In-Universe the titular Gargoyles come to life only at night.
- Final Boss: The female Gargoyle Demona is the last stage boss, befitting their role as a Big Bad in the original series.
- Storming the Castle: In stage 1, no less. The pre-stage narration says the Vikings invaded Castle Wyvern, and it is up to Goliath to repel the invaders.
