Bring Your Skills. Build Your Crew. Find Your Style.
Floor Kids is a Rhythm Game with hand-drawn graphics by the award-winning artist JonJon and an original soundtrack of over 40 tracks by scratch DJ/producer Kid Koala. It was first released on December 7th, 2017 for Nintendo Switch, and then ported to PC on May 6th, 2018, and to PS4 and Xbox One on November 27th, 2018.

There, the player takes on the role of a group of street kids who wish to bring together more children of their like to better their city with the art of break dancing. There are eight playable characters in total, and their moves belong to one of the four break-dancing disciplines (Top Rock, Down Rock, Power and Freeze), and each character has their strengths and weaknesses relative to these styles. There are eight venues as well, ranging from a studio and a grocery store to a peace summit, and the game supports local multiplayer as well.

Tropes present in this game:

  • Added Alliterative Appeal: The categories you are awarded crowns in all have names starting with an "F": Funk, Flavor, Flow, Fire and Flyness.
  • Black Bead Eyes: Every character has their eyes drawn in this manner. Moreover, there are several black lines running across their eyes as well, apparently to create contrast and compensate for the lack of nose and mouth.
  • Combos: These are created by chaining moves from the different disciplines together.
  • Gameplay Grading: The players are awarded with up to five crowns at the end of each performance. These are awarded in the categories of Funk, Flavor, Flow, Fire and Flyness, in a system that's meant to encourage musicality, originality, and style of your moves, instead of rigidly following the beat like is usually the case with the genre.
