A relaxing Heavenly adventure.
Fishing Paradiso is an indie action-RPG game developed and published by Odencat. A sequel to the previous game, Bear's Restaurant, the player takes on the role of a young girl who has just died and has made it to a version of Heaven. Washed up on an island with nothing but a little bird by her side and an old fishing rod, she decides that the only thing to do for now is to begin fishing. She soon obtains a Heavenly version of a smart phone along with a fishing boat, and it's off on a new quest to begin the final journey by going fishing.

Tropes:

  • Afterlife Antechamber: The game's main character has just died and gone to Heaven, and the game begins from there.
  • Ascended Extra: While Cat and Bear are able to view the backstories of the customers in Bear's Restaurant, they tend to only stick around for a short while before leaving. In this game, nearly all of them are back and are ready to help you. Justified, as the previous game had them waiting to go to Heaven, which is where this game takes place.
  • Become a Real Boy: Rilla, revealed pretty early on in her sidequest, was once a gorilla, but promised herself that she would become a human in Heaven to be Sergey's wife because Sergey saved her from a trap.
  • Casanova Wannabe: Sergey tries to be one by hitting on every available woman. The only exception is Rilla who he runs away from.
  • Easy Amnesia: The protagonist has to have it confirmed that they've actually died, and when asked about an event from their past, the options to reply are either an uncertain "maybe" or stating that they can't remember.
  • Fairy Companion: Functionally, yes, but it is actually a birdie companion.
  • Fishing Minigame: This is the game's central mechanic instead of battles.
  • Good Morning, Crono: The game's first few legs starts with someone on the island waking the girl up.
  • An Interior Designer Is You: To begin with, there's no shelter at all on the island you wash up on. However, by completing quests, you construct your own cabana, and can decorate it with rearrangeable furniture.
  • A Lizard Named "Liz": Or in this case, a (former) gorilla named "Rilla".
  • Named in the Sequel: Nearly every unnamed customer in the previous game returns, and due to the nature of the game, they all give their names to you.
  • No Name Given: Aside from the returning Bear and Cat, who are still Only Known by Their Nickname, the protagonist has no known name despite everyone else knowing theirs.
  • Our Gods Are Different: This one is a giant celestial fish named "Martel". She's trying her best to help you get over your loneliness.
  • Previous Player-Character Cameo: Both Bear and Cat return from the first game as friends, and you can even lend them some fish for their restaurant if you've got the time.
  • Regained Memories Sequence: Throughout the game, the protagonist hears a voice coming from their heart, seemingly telling of their past. They were the head of a failed labor union under a Corrupt Corporate Executive before giving up hope and dying alone, their body not found until three months after their death.
  • Relationship Values: The protagonist can develop Friend Levels with the other characters they meet by interacting with them and sharing food at Bear's Restaurant.
  • Robot Me: Early in the game, Birdie goes missing, prompting Kappa to replace him with a robotic replica that nearly everyone thinks is worse. The robot is traded for the real deal a short while later.
  • Space Is an Ocean: One of the ecosystems that you can fish in is the Milky Way Galaxy.
