2016 AD - A space colony project, codenamed Colony CO5, is proposed by the government in order to handle global overpopulation.
2019 AD - Colony CO5 is converted into an android stronghold, with a supercomputer called Cyber-Lip as a mainframe to control the android population, just as news of an impending Alien Invasion looms in the horizon. The androids are weaponized, and delivered into the battlefield.
2030 AD - A decade has passed since initiation of the Cyber-Lip program, and unfortunately, the android population under CO5's control ends up faulty and taking over the planet's human colonies. With androids running amok and the earth in ruins in the aftermath of the android-alien war, two veteran soldiers, Rick and Brook, are sent to earth to destroy the rogue Cyber-Lip computer.
Cyber Lip is a 1990 Run-and-Gun arcade game produced by SNK. As detailed in the backstory, earth is in the aftermath of an android uprising under the control of the rogue super-computer, Cyber-Lip, and it's up to the player(s) to control Rick and Brook to take on the malfunctioning robots and alien remnants.

- Absurdly Spacious Sewer: The "punishment" level is a massive sewer large enough for a giant walking mecha platform to move about. It's also filled with giant centipedes which crawls out of the water regularly to attack Rick and Brook.
- All There in the Manual: Various additional details about the game's backstory and characters are provided in the instruction manual including the Federal Government previously dispatching a group of special forces to destroy Cyber-Lip (to poor results), the name of the Mission Control (Andor), Rick being a native of Colony CO5 and Brook having a dead wife.
- Attack Drone: One of the collectible power-ups is a hovering probe robot that circles around the player, causing damage to surrounding enemies while absorbing attacks. It's still possible to end up being hurt by enemy fire while protected by the drone, however.
- A.I. Is a Crapshoot: Subverted - the rogue supercomputer, Cyber-Lip, was sabotaged by the aliens and programmed to malfunction, despite the game's initial premise.
- Antagonist Title: The rogue Cyber-Lip computer system is running amok and controlling the malfunctioning androids in attacking human colonies. Or so it seems, but later on comes The Reveal after the last stage.
- Big Creepy-Crawlies: The desert level is filled with giant insect enemies.
- Bolivian Army Ending: After defeating Cyber-Lip and regaining control of the android population of CO 5, Rick and Brook made their way back to headquarters just as Andor congratulates them... before revealing he's an alien in disguise and is using the heroes in disposing of Cyber-Lip to facilitate his plans to Take Over the World. The game abruptly ends at that point.
- Detachment Combat: One of the bosses is an octopus-like abomination with a single, green eye which it will detach as a Faceless Eye periodically to assault Rick and Brook.
- Eldritch Abomination: The bosses of the alien factions, ranging from a massive, torso-like blob with a humanoid head on an extendable neck growing out it's stomach to a slimy mass of tentacles with a single floating green eye and a floating, pulsating red lump of flesh larger than the heroes.
- Giant Mook: The scorpion-like insect enemies that shows up in the desert levels are large enough, but there's also their adult forms, which towers over Rick and Brook and can tank even more hits before going down.
- Hidden Villain: Andor, the man in command of Rick and Brook's mission.
- Hover Bike: At the start of each level, Rick and Brook are deployed into the area using one of these. Their hovering vehicles also shows up whenever they lose a life, allowing them to use the bike's automated guns instead of their own firearms for a short while as they fly around taking potshots (until they're jettisoned by the bike and returns to being on foot).
- Luck-Based Mission: After the second level, the player will enter an elevator and be asked to choose wheter to go up or down, with the wrong choice sending the player to the sewers. Which option is correct is entirely random each time: the only thing that's not random is that waiting too long will automatically send you to the sewers.
- Mecha-Mooks: Every single human-like enemy mooks are malfunctioning androids in disguise.
- Mercy Invincibility: Granted each time Rick and Brook respawns after losing a life.
- Red Eyes, Take Warning: Andor sports these in the final cutscene, after revealing himself as the true mastermind behind Cyber Lip's malfunctioning and the real villain of the game.
- Robotic Reveal: More often than not, the human-like enemy soldiers will shed their skin after being killed, revealing themselves to be robots before exploding.
- Rouge Angles of Satin: Toward the final stage, Cyber-Lip says that he is not "insain" (misspelling of "insane"), and that he has been manipulated into evil control.
- Segmented Serpent: Giant green centipede-like monsters (with a single red eye) whose bodies are round spiky segments are an enemy in the sewer level.
- Spell My Name With An S: The instruction manual opens with a conversation between the president of the Federal Government and the Mission Control. In the English translation, the later character is referred to as "Andor" in one panel and "Gudor" two panels later.
- Stationary Boss: The bosses of alien origin, disgusting as they look, are all immobile and fixed to their spot (thankfully). Though they can still extend their necks or tentacles in an attempt to ensnare Rick and Brook.
- Unique Enemy:
- There's a single, one-of-a-kind muscular enemy soldier who attacks by throwing explosive barrels. He's hardly stronger than the Giant Mook insects in the desert level, and no such enemies appear after that.
- There is a single regular android who can take two hits instead of one (the first shedding its humanoid skin), found at the beginning of the third level.
- Unwitting Pawn: Basically, both Rick and Brook, being used by Andor to facilitate a Take Over the World plot…
- Weak Turret Gun: Mechanized turrets can be destroyed in one hit, even using the weakest gun. Of course, the difficulty is in how to hit them given they tend to be placed in rather tight locations.
- Wham Line: From Andor after revealing his true intentions sending the heroes on the mission:Andor: Mission completed. You have done a good job. There are no more obstacles in our way. The Earth is ours.
