GOOBER Laboratories is a famous research facility which specializes in genetic manipulation and engineering. You play as the newest intern sent to work at GOOBER, only to find the facility attacked by a giant chicken which ends up murdering the staff. Your job is to venture into the depths of the laboratory and capture the escaped giant chicken. On this quest to subdue the beastly chicken, you are accompanied by the radio voice of Sergeant "Corey", who guides you in your quest. However, you will soon learn that GOOBER Laboratories holds far darker secrets than just the giant chicken.
Chicken Feet contains examples of:
- Artificial Human: Sebastian is a human who was created at GOOBER Laboratories and is shown to be a monstrous-looking creature due to its origin.
- Bad Boss: Eric is an awful boss to his employees. He sends several of his interns to find and capture the giant chicken and is callous about any dying. He also plans to off your Player Character after you successfully capture the chicken.
- Disposable Intern: You are the intern in question, with Eric sending you to risk your life capturing the giant chicken. Eric doesn't even intend for you to live after you succeed regardless, and only with Sebastian's interference do you survive.
- Dream Sequence: A part of the game involves you being sent to a dream where you meet and talk with the giant chicken Cooper.
- Driven to Suicide: Sebastian kills himself after realizing that he is human and hence is similar to his hated foe Eric.
- Faux Affably Evil: Eric never lets up from his sweet and kindly voice, even after it's revealed that he's a sociopath who has no issues with ordering you killed or experimenting on and mutating a work colleague.
- Humans Are the Real Monsters: Sebastian ultimately kills himself due to his realization that he's human, which means he's now similar to Eric, the human who horrifically experimented on him and Cooper.
- Mad Scientist: Eric is the head of GOOBER Laboratories and is also responsible for unethical experiments. He helped mutate a friend of his into a giant chicken and has been horrifically experimenting to create an Artificial Human.
- Mercy Kill: After shooting Eric to death, Sebastian also finishes off the unconscious Cooper with a single shot, saying that he deserved much better, and more importantly, deserves peace from his transformation-induced rage.
- The Maze: One of the levels features a barnyard-themed maze which you have to sneak through while avoiding the rampaging chicken.
- Timed Mission: There are certain areas you have to race to and acts you have to carry out within a certain period of time, or else you'll get a game over.
- The Voice: Sergant Corey is never seen in person and simply guides you over the radio with his commands. Even when it's revealed that he's the Big Bad, Eric, we only hear what he's saying in the final confrontation rather than see him in person.
