Black the Fall is a Puzzle Platformer Video Game by Sailor Sand Studio.
The game casts you as an unnamed worker in a Communist country showing up for work one day. On that day, however, he decides he's had enough and leaves his post. Of course, work doesn't tolerate deserters. So, of course, now he finds he's on the run. Thus begins his journey across a Communist-controlled country.
The game was funded on Kickstarter on October 31st, 2014. It was ultimately released on July 11th, 2017.
Black the Fall contains examples of:
- 2½D: How the game is rendered.
- Berserk Board Barricade: One early obstacle in the game is a boarded up wall. The boards can be broken off by smacking the remains of a destroyed security camera against it.
- Commie Land: The setting of the game is an unnamed Communist country based on Romania. One indication of this is when you pass by a giant hammer and sickle near the start of the game.
- Convection, Schmonvection: A couple of parts of the factory have the worker on platforms that are just a few feet above vats of molten metal. Yet despite his proximity to it, the worker suffers no ill effects so long as he doesn't fall into it.
- Heroic Mime: The worker never says a word throughout the game.
- One-Hit-Point Wonder: The worker is immediately killed by a single shot from a gun, or a collision from any obstacle.
- Robot Buddy: You gain a robot ally after leaving the factory. It can help you by latching onto walls to power devices, and forming into a box that can serve as a platform.
- Sinister Surveillance: There are security cameras in a lot of areas of the game. They shine red spotlights that indicate their line of sight. If the Player Character gets caught by one, he'll be shot shortly after.
- Super Drowning Skills: While the robot can swim, if the worker touches any body of water, he sinks all the way up to his hat in a second.
- Tin-Can Robot: The worker's robot friend has a very boxy body.
- Walking Tank: A bunch of them are patrolling the outside of the factory. If they spot the worker, they'll immediately shoot him. You pilot one at the end of the game to break down the massive wall.
