Trivia / Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z

Go To

  • Creator Killer: Yaiba was Spark Unlimited's last game before shutting down on May 2015. Lousy way to go.
  • Franchise Killer: The protagonist may have failed to kill Ryu Hayabusa in the game, but considering how hard Yaiba flopped, he might have killed Ryu indirectly by ensuring that no new Ninja Gaiden game has been released for years since then. The game received mixed-to-negative reviews, with most criticism directed towards the franchise's signature hard difficulty being poorly implemented and unfair this time around, as well as its annoying camera and juvenile writing. This, combined with its poor promotion and being a last-gen exclusive game months after the PS4 and Xbox One already came out, is likely what led to the game putting the franchise in limbo.
  • Old Shame: Tom Lee, creative director of Team Ninja stated this game was a bad move.
  • Playing Against Type: Grant Kirkhope worked on this game's soundtrack. It (understandably) bears very little resemblance to his usual whimsical style.
  • Pre-Order Bonus: The game received a few skins that were exclusive to pre-orders of the game, one of which was a mascot costume of Beck from Mighty No. 9.
