Trivia / World of Assassination Trilogy

Go To

  • Channel Hop: One of the more ridiculous examples in recent memory. The first game was released under Square Enix, who ditched IO Interactive after the game underperformed in their eyes. IOI was saved by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, who published the second game, but due to mostly undisclosed issues the final game was independently published by IOI themselves.
  • Similarly Named Works: Despite all of the games being titled Hitman, Hitman 2 and Hitman 3, they are not the first, second, or third entries into the overall Hitman franchise (They are Hitman 6, 7, and 8 technically). The subtitle to each of the actual original trilogy (Codename 47, Silent Assassin and Contracts) are now especially important to differentiate between the games (although in the case of Silent Assassin and Contracts, they have always been known by their subtitles by fans anyway). The first entry is usually referred to as Hitman (2016) to differentiate from Codename 47.
