Trivia / WordWorld

Go To

  • Completely Different Title:
    • In Malayalam and Tamil, the series is titled Word Game.
    • Renamed to ABC Good Fun in Mandarin.
    • The Hebrew title is The Land of Words.
    • The European Portuguese title is The World of the Words.
  • Cross-Regional Voice Acting: Everyone in the voice cast with the exception of Lenore Zann are from New York. Zann herself normally works in Canada.
  • Same Face, Different Name: Muppeteer veterans Tyler Bunch, who played The Narrator, Dog, Fly, Duck and Ant and Peter Linz, who played Bug, Monkey, and Pig are credited as HD Quinn and George Bailey respectively.
  • Schedule Slip: The first season premiered on Labor Day 2007, but took over a year to finish airing.
  • Screwed by the Network: The show lasted no more than three seasons, despite still being popular. The third and final season only lasted five episodes.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • An article in Animation Magazine mentioned that the series was originally going to be in animated in 2D (with the animation provided by Bardel Entertainment, judging by some of the model sheets). Later on, they tried doing it in live-action. Ultimately, they decided to do it in CGI.
    • Several concept art (as well as the pilot) shows many differences from the final product:
      • A character lineup suggests Tiger, Lion, and Fish were going to be major characters. In the show itself, Tiger and Fish are minor characters, and Lion doesn't exist (except in the merchandise).
      • There was going to be a dragon character, but it was scrapped.
      • Sheep was supposed to go on all fours most of the time (as she would stand on her back legs occasionally), just like in the original WorldWorld book series. In the show itself, she is always bipedal.
      • Cat was originally going to look like a Siamese cat, but in the show itself, she is blue (sometimes purple). Also, following her design from the original books, her head was going to be the letter T. In the final show, her head is C.
      • The series logo was originally the one used for the book series.
      • The test pilot shows that the character designs were originally going to be more accurate to those in the book series. Dog's head was originally G instead of D, Elephant was male, and Ant was approximately the same size as Dog while his head was T instead of A. It also shows that the characters can be broken up back into letters, something that doesn't happen in the final show.
    • Originally, this show was going to be the new program during the 2007 incarnation of the PBS Kids preschool block featuring Miss Laurie and Hooper. However, Super Why!, which also teaches literacy skills, was put on the block instead. This is evidenced by one promo for the block using a song that opens with "Big red dogs and silly silly frogs and a guinea pig who's fun", and showing Whyatt transforming instead of the intended clip of Frog from WorldWorld.
