Trivia / White Sand

Go To

  • Development Hell: White Sand the novel was written sometime before Mistborn: The Original Trilogy, which would make it over a decade old by the time the graphic novel comes out.
  • Saved from Development Hell: It could've still been years before the rewrite if it wasn't for Dynamite coming along.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • The story was initially envisioned and written as a novel, and Sanderson had apparently planned to rewrite it and put it on sale before Dynamite asked him whether he has some unpublished story on hand to adapt into graphic novel format.
    • Baon's name was initially Bowen, which would be hilarious if you consider that initially, he was supposed to be a bowman. Likewise, Eric became Aarik and Ais underwent Gender Flip over the course of adapting the story.
    • First "design" of Taldain had the planet be stuck in some sort of binary system, with sun on the Dayside and a "darklight"-shining star on the Darkside, rendering it not a Tidally Locked Planet, but effectively immobile. Going by Word of God, some of that concept has made it into the final product, with the Darkside having a star that emits copious amounts of UV radiation but little visible light.
