Trivia / Wandering Witch: The Journey of Elaina

Go To

  • Acting for Two: In "A Story About All Kinds of Ashen Witches," Kaede Hondo and Amber Lee Connors provide the voice for Elaina and all her alternate selves. All twenty-two of them, per the end credits.
  • Creator's Favorite: According to Jougi Shiraishi, aside from Elaina, he's fond of Saya and Frederica, a character who appears in Volume 8 of the light novel.
  • Playing Against Type: In her comments from the Volume 8 Drama CD from 2018, Kana Hanazawa notes that this was her first time voicing a mature adult woman like Fran. Not surprising, given the types of characters she was famous for voicing early on in her career.
  • The Other Darrin: In terms of artists, anyway. Jougi Shiraishi initially published two mini-volumes of Wandering Witch on Amazon Kindle Publishing in 2014 as a proof of work, and an artist named Miya (宮) drew the cover art used for both mini-volumes. Azure would draw for the light novels once Shiraishi got hired by GA Bunko in 2016.
  • Sleeper Hit: According to Shiraishi's notes from the end of Volume 4, the series initially got cancelled after an initial three volume run, and he was put to work writing a spinoff/sequel to Elaina's journey thereafter. While he was happy to see Wandering Witch rank high in such magazines as This Light Novel Is Amazing!, he couldn't help but feel bitter that this praise came after his work was cancelled. However, after surprisingly high demand and sales, Shiraishi's editor called him to tell him that not only were the first three volumes getting another reprint, but that he wanted more Wandering Witch. This explains the six-month gap between Volume 3 and Volume 4.
