• Breakthrough Hit: The single release of "Vienna" catapulted the band into mainstream success, which they'd maintain throughout the first half of the '80s.
• Channel Hop: The album marked the band's move from Island Records to Chrysalis Records, which would remain in place for the remainder of the Midge Ure lineup's lifetime (even for their 2008-2013 reunion).
• Germans Love David Hasselhoff: The song "New Europeans" became so popular in Japan after being used in a whiskey commercial that it was released as a single there, where it went gold.
• Limited Special Collector's Ultimate Edition: For the album's 40th anniversary, a Deluxe Edition release was put out including not only the original album, but also a live show from the supporting tour, single releases, rehearsal tapes, and stereo & surround sound remixes of the album and its B-sides by Steven Wilson.
• Referenced by...: The Yellow Magic Orchestra song "Cue" was written as a direct homage to the "Vienna" B-side "Passionate Reply" (included as a bonus track on both the 2000 remaster and copies of the Steven Wilson remix included in the Deluxe Edition).
• Working Title: The album was originally recorded and produced under the title Torque Point, and at least one test pressing of the album was manufactured with that name on the sleeve. Eventually however, Ultravox decided to make "Vienna" into a Title Track, considering it the album's high point and a microcosm of what they wished to achieve under their new leadership.
