Trivia / Vengeful Guardian: Moonrider

Go To

  • Inspiration for the Work: Danilo Dias has remarked on Twitter that Kamen Rider — particularly Kamen Rider BLACK, and other tokusatsu shows brought to Brazil in the nineties heavily influenced the game.
  • Reality Subtext: The game's plot of rebels fighting a dictatorship has a clear subtext pertaining to Brazilian politics. The JoyMasher team stated on Facebook that one of the cutscenes uses a photo of real life protests against former Brazilian president Bolsonaro as its basis. The scene of Moonrider stabbing a military officer in the gut evokes Bolsonaro being stabbed in 2018, and was posted by the game's lead developer on Twitter very specifically during the national elections in October 2 of 2022. Still more subtle than getting to kill the man himself in Mais Ódio, Menos Playstation's Azar, which got flagged on Twitter when that developer did the same thing (also see Punhos de Repúdio for more Bolsonaro-killing action)... Finally, in the ending cutscene the word "comrade" is used by the heroic rebels in Portuguese (companheiro) even in the English script, alluding to its use by the Partido dos Trabalhadores political party whose leader Lula won the presidency over Bolsonaro in 2022.
