• Parody Retcon: Will attempts one of these in-universe, when he fumblingly tries to convince Kate that he meant the ending of The Taming of the Shrew to be ironic. She doesn't buy it, and he says in an aside that he can only hope that his verse is so obscure that that's what scholars of the future will like to think he meant it to be.
• Sequel Gap: Two years between "A Crow Christmas Carol" and "Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow: A Lockdown Christmas 1603", though in-story it's seven years.
• Stunt Casting: The first Christmas Special features Emma Thompson as Queen Elizabeth, and the second features Thompson's ex-husband Kenneth Branagh as the Ghost of Christmas.
