• Referenced by...: In Sorceror Nobody's S2E7, he lists what all of his named equipment items are references to, including Unsounded.
• Schedule Slip: Ashley Cope maintains an impressive buffer, and updates consistently three days a week — however, hurricanes have caused delays on several occasions, as Ashley lives in Florida. She is prompt about warning readers when a hurricane is likely to interfere with the update schedule, and once named a character after Hurricane Irma after it knocked out her power for a week.
• What Could Have Been:
  • Elan Aled was originally supposed to be killed by Bastion shortly after his introduction in Chapter 6. Instead, he grew into a more important character and got to have a longer arc, eventually dying as a hero to give Elka a chance to escape from Captain Hetr's forces.
  • Elka was originally slated to be killed by the First Silver monster in Chapter 10 and torment Emil as a ghost in the next arc, but this was a very early draft of the script, according to the author.
  • Stockyard was originally slated to survive the events of Chapter 10 and join the main party, dying later at the end of the first book. The author decided they just didn't add enough to the cast dynamic, so they were killed early.
  • Starfish was originally planned to be an efheby wearing a human skinsuit, and this would have been revealed in Chapter 10. However, the author decided this reveal would have just complicated things, since Ruckmearkha was introduced shortly after, and he was monstrous enough as a regular human being.
  • The author stated that as one element of Our Humans Are Different, humans of Kasslyne were going to lack uvulas. However, she accidentally drew them on a character at one point and at that point just dropped it.
  • The author says this plan was dropped "long ago", but at one point Prakhuta and Anadyne were going to fall in love.
  • The decision to depict Mikaila's "death" was made fairly late; originally she was going to be shown crying over Duane's body after driving Bastion off.
  • The story was originally meant to be told over the course of 3 "books", but due to book 1 taking about a decade to be finished, the author decided to slim the story down to just two books. One of the apparent casualties of this change was a major arc in book 3 would have been about Ssael's life before his martyrdom.
• Word of Gay:
  • Ashley stated in her question and answer forum that Sette is asexual, Matty is gay, and Bastion is bi. She later said that Darkest Paul is gay.
  • While Jon's sexuality is only implied in the story, Ashley later confirmed on her blog that he was gay and in love with Duane.
  • Ashley confirmed suspicions that two background Inak characters were female, in a relationship, and that queer relationships are normalized among the Inak.
• Word of Straight: Ashley has also stated that Duane is 100% straight. Not that that stops her from slashing him in non-canonical content, of course.
