• Died During Production: Roberto Bolaño died in 2003, shortly after submitting to his publisher the first draft of the novel that would become known as 2666. He had completed four and a half parts of the five-part thology. This percentage of the novel being complete, as well as notes for the unfinished section that were found in his desk (notes that included the title of the story), allowed it to be published the next year. It has since been proclaimed by many critics to be Bolaño's greatest work.
