The story originally had twenty contestants instead of twenty two. Nine of the contestants were scrapped and the other eleven became the favorites, facing eleven new characters. This turned the season into a Fans vs. Favorites season. Several ideas and things were changed and scrapped in this version as well such as:
Vivienne was going to be transgender, similar to the character she was based on's portrayal in the Japanese version of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door.
Puck was originally planned to win the season.
Christina (an Expy of Christina Grimmie from the original version) was intended to compete instead of Estrella, which would've become a much Harsher in Hindsight only a couple years later.
