Trivia / Tomba!

  • Acting for Two: There's a total of 11 actors in the second game and they all play multiple roles. Most notable is Peter Kepler, who voices Zippo, Charles, Gran, Mole, Ark and all the Evil Pigs along with some other minor characters.
  • Bad Export for You: An unusual case involving the second game with the PSN; there were issues getting the English version of the game to run properly on the emulator system of the PS3 and PSP, so to compensate, the Japanese version was sent as a placeholder until the issues can be worked out. And now they have been.
  • Blooper: A few messups were left in the dialogue audio of The Evil Swine Return.
    • The audio upon receiving the Coal Mine Bell is one line ahead of the text boxes, leading to Zippo saying a line from later about Gran dropping the minecart rails.
    • When Tomba and Zippo meet the imprisoned mermaid in the Water Temple, she asks if Tomba and Zippo were captured by the Water Pigs, when the line in the onscreen text indicates the exact opposite meaning - she's supposed to say that she was captured by the Water Pigs.
    • The VA for the mouse in the Mini Temple flubs his line when giving the Nishiki's Wings to Tomba.
  • Foreign Re-Score: Barring a few tracks at the beginning and end of the game, Tomba 2's soundtrack is completely different between the English and Japanese version.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: The original PlayStation releases have long since gone out of print. Additionally, PS3 players lost their chance to play these games if they hadn't purchased them digitally prior to being removed from the PS Store in 2021. Averted with the first game as of 2023, where Limited Run Games announced that with the help of original Tomba! director Tokuro Fujiwara that they were releasing a remaster of the first Tomba! game. It'll be released on the PS4, PS5, and for the first time outside of a Sony console, the Nintendo Switch and Steam. That said, time will tell if Tomba! 2 will also get rescued.
  • Orphaned Reference: The first game has two:
    • Early in the game you find a telescope and peer out over the water, seeing a pair of Koma Pigs rowing toward an ominous-looking pig-shaped island that just screams out loud Very Definitely Final Dungeon. This entire area was removed from the game, and instead you face the final boss in The Underground Maze. "Pig Island" is never so much as mentioned ever again, unless you have the Japanese version of Tomba where it's visible on the world map (it was removed from the US and European versions).
      • In the final cutscene, Tomba is shown flying out of the pig-shaped island so it's this is actually where the final battle takes place. It's assumed that the two pigs shown rowing the boat are the ones that stole Tomba's bracelet in the first cutscene and this is them dumping the gold they've collected.
    • Masakari Jungle and The Village of Civilization were hit hard by this. There's an entire village visible on the map in the jungle that can never be visitednote , and an entire underground area in the Lumberjack Factory that is blocked by an invisible wall and contains only a single berry.
