• Author's Saving Throw: The casting of Ross Butler as a love interest for Chris seems to be one for the fan response of there being no Asian love interests.
• Dawson Casting: Continues to apply to the actors from the first film, but this film also adds twenty somethings Jordan Fisher and Ross Butler to the high-school cast.
• Meaningful Release Date: February 12, two days before Valentine's Day, as it's a teen romcom and the trailer puts a lot of emphasis on the holiday.
• Oddly Named Sequel 2: Electric Boogaloo: To All the Boys I've Loved Before proved a very awkward title to retool into the name of a franchise, especially while keeping the name of the second novel recognizable. So we get a truncated version of the first film's name mashed with the full name of the sequel novel, in a way that confusingly suggests Lara Jean is telling all the boys that she still loves them. Also applies to the third film, To All the Boys: Always and Forever, Lara Jean.
• The Other Darrin: John Ambrose was played by Jordan Burtchett in the first film and Jordan Fisher in this one.
• What Could Have Been: Sean Kaufman, who portrays Steven Conklin in The Summer I Turned Pretty, auditioned for John Ambrose.
