• California Doubling: The movie was filmed in Australia to avoid running into legal issues with the Thai government.
• Fake Brit: The multinational/American Viggo Mortensen and the Irish Colin Farrell play British cave divers Rick Stanton and John Volanthen, matching their accents with professional competence. Notably, Mortensen plays Stanton with, yes, a southern English accent, as is customary for Fake Brits. This has been queried, given that Stanton is correctly shown as living in Coventry, in the Midlands; however, he grew up in Essex, in the southeast, and retains the accent.
• Release Date Change: Originally supposed to release on April 15, 2022, but due to the pictures having positive testing from the audience, MGM moved these pictures date to November 18. However, due to the merger of MGM and Amazon, and mostly avoiding competition with She Said (2022), Amazon win the film distribution and released on limited theatrical on July 29 and Digital on August 5.
