Trivia / The White Queen

Go To

  • California Doubling: The series was filmed in the Belgian cities of Bruges and Ghent.
  • Dawson Casting: Given the 20+ years the show spans, it's inevitable that the actors ended up playing younger and older ages, but Episode 2, where the Queen's coronation is set in May 1465, takes this up to eleven as 28-year-old David Oakes is the 15-year-old George, 20-year-old Eleanor Tomlinson is the 13-year-old Isabel, 25-year-old Aneurin Barnard is the 12-year-old Richard, and 25-year-old Faye Marsay is the 8-year-old Anne.
  • Fake Brit: Rebecca Ferguson as Elizabeth Woodville is half-Swedish, half-British.
  • Fake Nationality: The Belgian Veerle Baetens portrays the French Margaret of Anjou.
  • Star-Making Role: For Rebecca Ferguson, Aneurin Barnard, and Faye Marsay.
  • Throw It In!: Aneurin Barnard, David Oakes and Max Irons were goofing around in the courtyard, and they came up with a silly game where Barnard is a cavalryman, Oakes is his horse, and together they try to attack Irons, their enemy. The latter succeeds in causing the other two to lose their balance, and they tumble to the ground. The producers liked it so much that the clip was included in Episode 6.
  • What Could Have Been: The series misses out Lord Stanley's historical response to finding out Richard has taken his son hostage: "Sire, I have other sons."
