  • Crossdressing Voices: Marty Nelson as both Mr. Mega and his wife.
  • Recycled Script: The "perspective is a myth" gag came from a one-panel cartoon Plympton had drawn a few years prior.
  • What Could Have Been
    • Plympton very nearly abandoned the project when Disney offered him a position as lead animator on Aladdin. He turned the offer down when he found out that anything he created on company time immediately became their intellectual property.
    • Each song segment was going to be released as a separate short film, with the success of each one funding the next, then compiled into a feature. The idea was scrapped when Plympton received a huge paycheck for a Geiko ad campaign he created, which explains why several segments have nothing to do with the story.
  • Word of God: On the DVD Commentary, Bill Plympton says that "Lovesick Hotel" is a Spiritual Successor to "Heartbreak Hotel," but while "Heartbreak..." is where you go when you're sad, "Lovesick..." is where you go when you're miserable.
  • Write What You Know: "Love Is My Bottom Line" was inspired by all of the studio heads that Bill Plympton pitched this movie to who told him that they loved the project, but had no interest in producing it.
