• What Could Have Been: Faulkner originally wanted to use much more Unconventional Formatting, using, among other things, coloured text. In 2012, his original intentions are, at last, being honoured.
• Working Title: Twilight, of all things.
• Writing by the Seat of Your Pants: By Faulkner's own admission. He started with the image of the children not being allowed inside during their grandmother's funeral and just sort of ran with it. Even when writing Benjy's chapter he made very few notes on where he was going with it.
