• Distanced from Current Events: The second Fox airing happened on April 20, 1999, the day of the Columbine massacre. As a result, the line about Barney Gumble's birthday being on April 20th (same as Adolf Hitler — rumors were that the shooters chose that day specifically to honor Hitler) was changed in the third Fox airing (September 19, 1999) to be him having his birthday on July 15th, same as Lassie's. The change didn't stick in syndication, but the DVD, FXX, and Disney Plus airings kept the change.
• What Could Have Been: The producers wanted to use a Bruce Springsteen cover of "Viva Las Vegas" instead of the original Elvis Presley rendition that's often used in television and film depictions of Las Vegas, but were unable to clear the rights for the Bruce Springsteen cover in time.
