- Cliffhanger: Chapter 5 ends with Frida and an unconscious Hilda trapped in the Nisse space.
- Everyone Has Standards: Upon entering Hilda's dreams, Kelly exits, horrified by what she's seen in there.
- Five Stages of Grief: We never see Hilda go through denial, she does go through the other stages. Hilda is mostly in a combination of the depression and anger stages. Chapter 3 has Hilda in the bargaining stage where she tries to use dark magic to bring her mom back to life, nearly at the cost of her own life. Hilda enters the acceptance stage after spending chapters 5-9 in an Alp induced dream world.
- Heroic BSoD: The fic revolves around Hilda grieving over the death of Johanna.
- Lotus-Eater Machine: After an encounter with the Black Hound, Hilda and Frida end up in their own dream worlds created by an Alp.
- Not Me This Time: In chapter 2, David and Frida thought that the Marra are giving Hilda nightmares. But they're not.
- In Hilda's dream world, Hilda accuses the pigtail Marra of giving her a nightmare the night before. The aforementioned Marra then informs her that this is her first time trying to enter Hilda's dreams since their last encounter.
- That Man Is Dead: The dream version of the pigtail Marra finds Hilda no fun anymore. Hilda responds that she was stupid back then.
