Trivia / The Pretty Reckless

  • Banned in China: The lyric video for "Death By Rock and Roll" was blocked in the US for a few days because of its mixture of violence, nudity, and religion. After some wrangling, though, it got unblocked and is available in the US now.
  • Breakthrough Hit: "Heaven Knows" marked their first hit, and they followed it up with the chart-topping "Messed Up World", "Follow Me Down" and "Take Me Down". In the process they became the first female-fronted rock band to top the chart with their first two hits, and the first band to send their first four chart entries to number one.
  • Contractual Purity: The video for "Make Me Wanna Die" took forever to be released because Taylor appeared nude in it at the age of sixteen.
  • Dueling Works: The band is often compared to contemporary female-fronted Hard Rock band Halestorm, whose lead vocalist Lzzy Hale has a broadly similar style to Momsen. The two groups are aware of the comparison, but Hale and Momsen actually get along pretty well according to a joint interview in Rolling Stone, and toured together for about a month in 2015.
  • Executive Meddling: "Miss Nothing" had a use of the C-word censored.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • "Kill Me" was planned to be the lead single of their second album Going To Hell. However when the band moved labels, it was left off the album release. It did get included as a bonus track on the Japanese edition though.
    • The second album got delayed because Hurricane Sandy destroyed the studio while they were in the process of producing it. As such they had to re-record a lot of their material.
  • Word of God: The video for "Miss Nothing" which features a "Last Supper" Steal, is confirmed by the band to be set after the death of Christ. Taylor plays the Mary Magdalene figure in place of Jesus.
