  • Throw It In!: While Dumbledore was getting a bit of Adaptational Villainy from the start, the author states that a comment on an earlier chapter led to Dumbledore being corrupted by possession of the Resurrection Stone, leading to basically his entire character arc culminating in him being basically possessed by the ring horcrux for the final battle.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • Word of God has noted that the only three girls definitely planned for the harem from the beginning were Ginny, Hermione, and Luna. Katie was the last definitive candidate selected, while other possible candidates included Tonks, Daphne Greengrass and Gabrielle.
    • According to Word of God, if Daphne had been chosen, she would have basically had the storyline that has been given to Susan. In a similar vein, Tonks would have essentially taken Fleur's place if she had been part of the group. The author notes that this is the reason Fleur was chosen instead, as giving Tonks Fleur's role would have required Remus to take on Bill's temporary Adaptational Villainy.
    • Other abandoned story elements included the idea that each girl would have a slightly different kind of bond with Harry depending on the nature of their prior relationship with him, rather than all seven bonds being a similar telepathic/magical link. Another abandoned arc was planned involving a dark witch versed in sex magic that Voldemort would recruit from some foreign country, likely to be a mentor to Pansy for her planned infiltration.
