Trivia / The Pieces Lie Where They Fell

Go To

  • Bonus Material: A handful of omake chapters, some written by Anon e Mouse Jr. and featuring his self-insert character, who has the powers (and then some) of Kamen Rider Skull and was created for an as-yet unwritten story. They are non-canon to this story, but he writes them for fun anyway.
    • The chapter 11 omake is an alternate take on a scene from the canon chapter 11, in which the self-insert tells the characters the truth about the "demon bunny named Angel" before quoting Tsukasa Kadoya to them and disappearing into another world.
    • The chapter 24 omake is a more serious one, with the self-insert giving Night Blade some advice and his name:
"Call me Reel. Heir to the powers of Sokichi Narumi, the original Kamen Rider Skull."
    • A third omake, posted between chapters 25 and 26 and written by both Evilhumour and Anon e Mouse Jr. (but without his self-insert), focuses on Father Evergreen Road.
    • The fourth omake, posted after the epilogue, features Night Blade becoming the new Alicorn of Love. Regrettably non-canon, but Anon e Mouse Jr. had fun writing it after Evilhumour suggested the idea.
    • The fifth and final omake (and the last chapter of the story) is the third appearance of Anon e Mouse Jr.'s self-insert, this time non-canon to the character's previous appearances and involving a total plot derailment brought on when he uses his full power and most dangerous ability.
    • The omakes continue in Picking Up the Pieces, with Reel making another appearance in an alternate take on that fic's chapter 11 and revealing his previous appearances had actually happened in dimensions that were nearly identical to the fic's canon. This time, he pays the Captains a visit and expresses his opinion of Internal Affairs, along with informing Violet Lulamoon of her being descended from a so-called enemy of the previous Bearers.
    • An omake of chapter 25 depicts the reaction of Princess Cadance, who's been in the afterlife all this time, to Gentle Step's trial/hearing over breaking the Royal Guard's anti-fraternization rules.
  • Throw It In!:
    • The Hatchery System being modeled after the Residential Schools of Canada (a school system created for the purpose of removing children from the influence of their own culture and assimilating them into the dominant Canadian culture) was not intended from the beginning but after a while (around the time Page pointed out, and Wind Breaker finally admitted it, that the Hatchery system was designed to break the griffon in him), it became intentional.
    • Some of Anon e Mouse Jr.'s earliest contributions to the fic, prior to his being made a full co-author, also qualify — he thought of something (such as Vix-Lei mentioning that the members of the Questioning Order gave her the creeps), made the suggestion, and Evilhumour liked it and had him put it in.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • Originally, Anon e Mouse Jr. had written Professor Bill Neigh’s class to include a physics question from the What's a Henway? page. He changed it after deciding it wasn’t as funny as he’d thought it was at first.
    • Rex's Fall Formal outfit was originally a Shout-Out to a different character, before Anon e Mouse Jr. decided on the final version.
    • Chapter 41 originally began with the group getting picked up in a limo to go to the dance, as in canon, but Anon e Mouse Jr. decided it didn't feel right and skipped straight to the dance. In addition, the entire chapter was going to be from Xvital's point of view, until Anon e Mouse Jr. decided the actual dancing scenes fit better with Night Blade.
    • In a draft of a later scene for Picking Up the Pieces, the lieutenant of the Royal Guard was named Steady Lance; however, when it came time to introduce him into the story, both Evilhumour and Anon e Mouse Jr. had forgotten that detail, resulting in Gentle's lieutenant being named Mist Flight. When Anon e Mouse Jr. found the scene again later, he decided to repurpose the name for the lieutenant of the Cadenza Guard (and later still identified them as lieutenant of the Celestia Guard instead).

General trivia

  • Excluding the prologue, epilogue, and omake chapters, there are six arcs:
    • Arc 1: The Gathering (Chapters 1-7)
    • Arc 2: Element Quest — Canterlot (chapters 8-26)
    • Arc 3: Element Quest — The Outside World (chapters 27-34)
    • Arc 4: Equestria Girls (chapters 35-42)
    • Arc 5: Recovery (chapter 43)
    • Arc 6: Final Showdown (chapters 44-48)
  • During these 48 chapters, each of the six main characters gets eighteen PoV segments — or three times six (six being their Arc Number). While this was actually deliberate, there are also a total of eighteen PoV segments for various characters outside the new Mane Six... which was sheer coincidence on the two writers' parts. Even they were surprised when they realized it.
