Trivia / The New Adventures of Jonny Quest

Go To

  • Follow the Leader: To put it bluntly while this was a sequel series to the original Jonny Quest, the change of tone was made to make it more in line with the then time period (the 1980s) versus the 1960s period the original was made in to make it fit in with what action cartoons of the day.
  • The Other Darrin:
    • Scott Menville voices Jonny Quest instead of Tim Matheson due to the latter aging out of the role.
    • Rob Paulsen voices Hadji Singh instead of Danny Bravo.
    • Granville Van Dusen voices Race Bannon instead of Mike Road due to the latter's retirement from voice acting.
  • Role Reprise: Don Messick and Vic Perrin reprise their respective roles of Dr. Benton Quest (and Bandit) and Dr. Zin from the 1960s TV series.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • An article in Television Chronicles stated that Hanna-Barbera had planned at least 39 episodes for the '80s run of Jonny Quest. The dismal ratings and negative reaction played a part in the series' cancellation after episode 13.
    • Jessie Bradshaw was originally conceived as a character that would appear in a few episodes of the '80s series as a female counterpart to Jonny. When it came down to the actual episodes that were finished, she only appeared in "Deadly Junket". The misconception that she was a regular new addition comes from the writer stating his original plan, as well as fans confusing her with the later Jessie Bannon incarnation.
