• Awesome, Dear Boy: When Duck (Skin from Skunk Anansie) was asked why she did it, she replied that the show sounded like fun and something new for her to try.
• Fake Nationality: Some of the contestants will put on fake accent's to try and disguise their real voice. Swan's Fake American accent almost worked, until Jonathan Ross managed to work out who they were at the last minute. Bush Baby's Fake Australian accent completely worked, with them remaining unguessed until their reveal. However, Bagpipes' Fake Scot accent was seen through straightaway, as it sounded too much like a non-native’s idea of what a Scottish accent should be like to be authentic.
• Kids' Meal Toy: In April 2023, McDonald's included several soft toys of various costumes from the show with their Happy Meals in the UK. These were Queen Bee, Unicorn, Octopus, Duck, Robin, Dragon, Blob, Badger, Snow Leopard, and Panda.
• Lying Creator: After episode one, a lot of people on Twitter had correctly worked out Hedgehog's real identity. Jason Manford then took to Twitter to claim that he wasn't the Hedgehog, and then began to suggest that it could be either Michael Ball or Alfie Boe underneath the mask. Later on, he started to suggest comedians who could sing well, like Rufus Hound, or Matt Lucas. After he was unmasked, Matt Lucas called him out on Twitter by saying "the gall of this man".
• Real Life Writes the Plot: Ken's absence from the second series and being replaced by comedian Mo Gilligan is due to travel restrictions from COVID-19 Pandemic preventing his participation. This remained a permanent change in the following years.
• So My Kids Can Watch:
  • Daisy, revealed to be Kelis, said that her kids loved the show and begged her to be in it.
  • Subverted with Cat and Mouse aka. 80s pop stars Martin and Shirlie Kemp - upon their unmasking, they revealed that they went on the show seeking to embarrass their children specifically their adult son Roman Kemp, a TV personality and radio DJ in his own right.
• What Could Have Been:
  • Sausage's costume was originally just going to be the cone of chips, but the designers couldn't work out how to give it a face and ended up adding a sausage to it.
  • The costume of Dragon was intended for the first series, and was going to be more serious and scary than the friendlier costume that the designers ended up making, which they felt turned out better.
