Trivia / The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild

Go To

  • B-Team Sequel: 20th Century Animation and Bardel Entertainment take over the animating reins from the defunct Blue Sky Studios.
  • Cross-Regional Voice Acting: The series uses voice actors from the U.S. and Canada.
  • Disowned Adaptation: When the trailer for this film (which was not produced by Blue Sky, but outsourced to Bardel Entertainment in Vancouver, British Columbia by Disney) was released (not even a year after Blue Sky was shut down by Disney), many former Blue Sky animators expressed displeasure towards the extremely noticeable drop in quality of the animation.
  • The Original Darrin: In the Italian dub, Leo Gullotta comes back as Manny after being replaced by Filippo Timi in Continental Drift and Collision Course.
  • The Other Darrin:
    • All of the returning characters, except for Buck, have been recast:
    • In the Japanese dub, Hiroshi Shirokuma takes over for the late Unshō Ishizuka as Diego.
    • Non-acting example: Batu Sener takes over as the film's composer, replacing John Debney from the fifth film, who in turn had replaced John Powell from the second, third and fourth films, who in turn also replaced David Newman from the first film. As a former protégé of Powell, Sener's score for Adventures Of Buck Wild incorporates many of the leitmotifs from Powell's work on the franchise.
  • The Other Marty: In the initial announcements for the film, Seann William Scott and Josh Peck were slated to reprise their roles as Crash and Eddie from the previous films. They are replaced respectively by Vincent Tong and Aaron Harris.
  • Role Reprise:
    • Simon Pegg reprises his role as Buck, and is notably the only returning cast member from the previous films.
    • The Japanese, European French, Polish, Latin American Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese dubs fortunately bring back the original cast for this film, even keeping the Celebrity Voice Actors from the latter four.
  • Studio Hop: As stated above, animation duties switched from the defunct Blue Sky Studios to Bardel Entertainment. Plus, while the film was still produced at 20th Century Animation, it was released with the logo of Walt Disney Pictures rather than that of 20th Century Studios.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • The film was going to be a TV series, with Seann William Scott and Josh Peck slated to reprise their roles as Crash and Eddie. This had lead to some comparing the movie to another pilot movie.
    • Back when Blue Sky was working on the film they suggested "that the sixth film could have potential to redeem the franchise by going back to its roots and reintroducing the humans from the original film, particularly the little baby named Roshan, and thereby bring the audience to remember why they loved Ice Age so much in the first place, and perhaps end the series on a high note."
