In current times, it would be simple for Heather to record her own music and sell them through music providers like iTunes and Amazon. Additionally, she could use a crowd funding site to raise any money needed to produce her music. She could also use social media to reveal her mistreatment by her mother and producers in order to garner enough sympathy and attention to make a comeback. It's somewhat justified in that Heather isn't very tech-savvy, she's gun-shy about premiering her songs after Mr. Cartwright laughed at her and fired her, and most people think of her as a Jaded Washout when they recognize her. Heather perhaps may do it in the future.
