Trivia / The Great Emperor in Song Dynasty

Go To

  • As the series' director Gao Xixi previously directed the 2010 Three Kingdoms TV series and King's War, many actors who were in this series also appeared in either series:
    • Kang Kai (Zhang Qiong) was Fan Kuai in Kings and Zhang Fei in TK. Also counts as Typecasting as Kang's portrayals of the three men are remarkably similar. note
    • Li Jianxin (Wang Ji'en) was Chancellor Li Si in Kings and Xun Yu in TK.
    • Xu Maomao (Gao Huaide) was Xiang Bo in Kings and Xu You in TK.
    • Ye Peng (Zheng En) was Zhongli Mo in Kings and Jiang Wei in TK.
    • Huo Qing (Jia Yan) was Zhang Liang in Kings and Lu Su in TK.
    • Lu Yong (Guo Wei) was Guan Ying in Kings.
    • Wu Xiaodong (Chai Rong) was Sima Xin in Kingsnote .
    • Cao Weiyu (Shen (Yi)Lun) was Zhang Han in Kings.
    • Ji Chenmu (Fu Zhaoshou) was Xiong Xin (King Huai of Chu) in Kingsnote .
    • Yan Pei (Wei Renpu) was Song Yi in Kings and Yuan Shu in TK.
    • Li Yuxuan (Han Gui) was Cao Zhi in TK.
    • Tian Ling (Lady Du) was Liu Xi's (Liu Bang's second elder brother) wife in Kings.
    • Shao Feng (Zhao Guangyi) was Lu Xun in TK.
  • Acting for Two: Actress Yin Tao portrayed both Empress Wang and Lady Xu (known more famously as Madame Huarui, Meng Chang's (the last monarch of Later Shu) favourite concubine). Historically, Lady Xu caught Taizu's attention a year or two after Empress Wang's death, when Meng surrendered to Taizu.
    • Dawson Casting: At the time of filming, Yin was in her early 30s. Empress Wang was in her teens when she married Taizu and passed away while in her early 20s. (However, this is mitigated by the implied Age Lift the series gave to Empress Wang to be around Taizu's age or a few years younger at the most)
