• Real Life Writes the Plot:
  • Eric Wallace has stated the pandemic is the reason why "Armageddon" isn't a traditional multi-show Crisis Crossover like the preceding Arrowverse events. The COVID-19 safety protocols prevented them from having all the leads of the other Arrowverse shows together on one set. Doing a Flash-centric mini-crossover event was suggested as a workaround by The CW and Wallace agreed (having had the basic idea for "Armageddon" since "Crisis on Earth-X".).
  • Wallace also states in that interview that the COVID protocols and the ripple effect on scheduling affected which Arrowverse characters could be selected as guest stars.
• Recycled Plot: The plot with Allegra, her older co-workers, and Iris is almost completely taken from early in Supergirl Season Two with Kara, Snapper, and Cat respectively, even down to the at first dismissive supervisor(s) and the tough-love You Are Better Than You Think You Are speech.
• What Could Have Been:
  • Continuing from the above interview, Wallace has stated the scale and scope for "Armageddon" was obviously originally intended to be much larger (as befitting a multi-show Crisis Crossover). These plans had to be scaled back and reworked once the decision was made to make it a Flash-centric mini-event because of the pandemic safety protocols.
  • Wallace has also stated that Despero was not the Big Bad in his original pitch. Despero was only selected after "Armageddon" was scaled back from a traditional Arrowverse Crisis Crossover (and because he's also Wallace's favorite Justice League villain). Wallace also hasn't yet revealed who the original villain was going to be (as he's still hoping to have him or her appear on The Flash down the road).
