• Cast the Expert: Arthur Christiansen, the longtime real-life editor of the Daily Express who served as a technical advisor for the film, plays the fictional editor Jeff Jefferson.
• Uncredited Role: Timothy Bateson as a printer in the printroom.
• One of the final shots of the movie is St. Paul's Cathedral, just across the way from Fleet Street. In the American release and BFI remaster, bell chimes were added. Val Guest believed that Universal based this on a similar moment in The War of the Worlds, as well as the implication that the nuclear bombing had worked, although the original story was given an Ambiguous Ending.
