Trivia / The Bridge (2011)

Go To

  • Backed by the Pentagon: Police in both Denmark and Sweden have been briefed on the story (At least for the 1st season) and they thanked the production crew for showing routine work that police officers face in the two countries.
  • Colbert Bump: The use of "Hollow Talk" as the theme song has made Choir of Young Believers known outside Europe.
  • Diagnosis of God: Unlike the US version, the creator denied Saga (viewed as a popular portrayal of a woman with Aspergers) had autism or Asperger's and was in fact "just Saga."
  • Fake Nationality: Jakob Oftebro, who plays the Dane Mads, is Norwegian.
  • Follow the Leader: To Forbrydelsen. Both are Scandinavian co-productions featuring a strong female protagonist who will always pursue a lead over anything as profane as social interaction or eating. But whereas the former features political plotlines for all seasons alongside the main investigation and the personal stories of the characters related to the victim(s), the latter starts with a female politician of Malmö... found as (one half of) a corpse on the Øresund Bridge.
  • Not Named in Opening Credits: The Season 3 opener omits Thure Lindhardt from the titles (leaving a gap next to Sofia Helin's name) to preserve the 'surprise' that he is Saga's partner.
  • Real Life Writes the Plot: The plan was to have Martin feature in the third season, but Kim Bodnia had such fundamental differences with the writers (over whether Martin should be in prison or not) that he left the project. Recent reports also mention that Kim had faced harassment from locals professing anti-Semitic views, some of them targeting him for his Jewish heritage.
  • Star-Making Role: For Sofia Helin.
