- Casting Gag:
- Simon Pegg, who served as the inspiration for Hughie and plays his father in the live-action series, finally gets to play him after getting too old to do it in live-action.
- The Japanese dub is a double one for Kenyuu Horiuchi, Homelander's dub voice actor: He previously voiced the character's main inspirations, Captain America in the 1990 film and Superman in Lois & Clark.
- Creator's Oddball: The fairly serious and somber "John and Sun-Hee" was written by Andy Samberg, who is most well-known for his comedic work.
- Descended Creator: Executive producer and co-creator Seth Rogen voices the Dreg Dealer.
- He Also Did:
- "Laser Baby's Day Out" was co-directed by Derek Lee Thompson. He's worked as an animator for The Prince of Egypt, Tom and Jerry Tales, and Looney Tunes: Back in Action to name a few.
- "An Animated Short Where Pissed-Off Supes Kill Their Parents" was directed by Parker Simmons. He's the creator of Mao Mao: Heroes of Pure Heart.
- Production Posse: Like its parent series, Diabolical is executive produced by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg through their Point Grey Pictures banner. Both men this time serve as co-creators here.
- Several veteran voice actors that appeared in fellow adult-animated superhero series, Invincible, another Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg production, are now part of The Boys universe. Prime examples include Grey DeLisle, Chris Diamantopoulos, Fred Tatasciore, Kevin Michael Richardson, Khary Payton, Nicole Byer, Sean Patrick Thomas and Gary Anthony Williams.
- Of course, it's not a Seth Rogen production without Ben Schwartz, Michael Cera, and Andy Samberg. All having been in his work prior.
- The Other Darrin:
- In "I'm Your Pusher", Billy Butcher and Hughie are voiced by Jason Isaacs and Simon Pegg* respectively rather than their series actors, Karl Urban and Jack Quaid. Justified due to being part of the comic's continuity rather than the TV show's.
- In the Japanese dub, some characters had different voice actors from the live-action TV series: Homelander goes from Hironori Kondo to Kenyuu Horiuchi, Queen Maeve from Saori Takamiya to Wakana Kowaka and The Deep from Yuuji Murai to Junya Hirano, the latter also voice Hughie Campbell in this series and the live-action one.
- The Latin American Spanish one is a rather meta one, as the dub went from being dubbed on El Salvador and then, Mexico (live-action) to Argentina here.
- Word of God:
- Eric Kripke confirmed on his Twitter that among the shorts, the three that canonically occurred in the universe of The Boys were "One Plus One Equals Two", "John and Sun-Hee" and "Nubian vs Nubian". He also stated that "I'm Your Pusher" could possibly take place in the comics, but one will have to ask Garth Ennis for confirmation. The rest are "insane multiverse fuckery".
- In response to a commenter being disappointed that "An Animated Short Where Pissed-Off Supes Kill Their Parents" isn't canon, Eric stated that the Red River Group Home exists in the show and will appear in Season 3.
