Heartwarming / The Boys: Diabolical

Go To

  • In "Laser Baby's Day Out":
    • The Vought scientist, Simon, grows attached to the sweet little Laser Baby and even dreams of adopting her. Upon learning she's about to be terminated, he helps her escape.
    • Laser Baby (temporarily) befriends a gorilla at the zoo.
    • Also a Moment of Awesome, when Superbrain corners Simon and Laser Baby, attempting to kill them both, Laser Baby, wanting to save Simon, finally gains control of her powers and lasers half Superbrain's head off, killing him.
    • Laser Baby calls Simon "Dada" and snuggles against him. You can't help but break into tears at that scene.
  • In "An Animated Short Where Pissed-Off Supes Kill Their Parents":
    • The Fire-Forged Friendship of the Red River-group. They genuinely love and support each other throughout everything, up to and including violent revenge.
    • Special mention goes to Big and Tongue. Big is always seen carrying and helping her and we can tell by the way she smiles at him how much she appreciates it.
  • In "Boyd In 3D":
    • Boyd and Cherry make a really cute couple before their fame drives them further and further apart.
    • During Boyd and Cherry's darkest moment, when the sponsorships dry up and they're starting to run out of Envision, Boyd tells Cherry that he always loved her freckles. A feature she herself hated.
    • Cherry turning up at Boyd's apartment to deliver him a letter after their breakup. Both of them are fairly awkward at first, but then slowly start to open up to each other, realizing they like the other with or without Envision. The moment is undercut a bit by the reveal that Boyd was just hallucinating the whole short, but it's sweet nonetheless.
  • In "BFFS":
    • Yes, it's meant to be a parody of the usual A Boy and His X - story, but in a world where most relationships are toxic, falling apart or fake, Sky and Areola's ride-or-die friendship is still nice to see.
    • Doubles as a Moment of Awesome: Sky refusing to leave Areola behind and breaking into Vought-headquarters to save her friend. Later on she faces off against a literal superhero to protect Areola before knowing that she, too, is a Supe.
    • Areola telling Sky that she is more powerful than she thinks and that between the two of them it has always been Sky that's the special one.
  • In "Nubian vs. Nubian"
    • Groundhawk empathizes with Maya about her parents divorcing, telling her about how his parents divorced. When she tries to pay him into fighting her parents, he refuses it.
    • He apologizes for dropping her when confronting the Nubians.
    • For all of their bickering and general negligence with their daughter, both Nubians clearly care deeply for Maya, with Prince Nubian reassuring her that they will always love her, and Groundhawk (seemingly) putting her in danger is enough to prompt them to start a Curb-Stomp Battle. Ultimately, they both decide to divorce for her sake.
  • In "John and Sun-Hee":
    • The entire premise of the episode is that John, an elderly man, steals Compound V for an entirely noble reason; to heal his beloved wife Sun-Hee from her terminal illness. His love for her is completely genuine, and this marks a point in The Boys for being a seemingly wholesome and healthy relationship outside of Sun-Hee's health. There's nothing twisted about their relationship, its simply an aging couple who wish they'd had more time together.
    • Sun-Hee chooses to sacrifice herself to defeat the cancer monster. In spite of how messed up the world of The Boys can be, and Sun-Hee herself being an elderly woman who will likely only be remembered by her husband, in a world of superficiality and sadistic Supes who only use their powers for selfish reasons, she manages to embody the true spirit of an actual hero who puts others first.
    • Doubles as Tear Jerker, but, before Sun-Hee sacrifices herself, she and John share one last kiss goodbye. As a Bilingual Bonus, her last thoughts, which are in Korean, are her hoping that he won't forget to eat his food on time just because she isn't there.
