Trivia / The Black and White Minstrel Show

  • Bury Your Art: Not surprising, given the BBC's lack of proper communication between units (meaning many shows were junked without one hand knowing what the other was doing) and the show's not-undeserved reputation. While it doesn't necessarily deserve to be missing, there probably isn't much of a clamoring for more to be found outside of the various crossovers with other BBC shows (such as the Daleks' appearance on 12 December 1964).
  • Contractual Obligation Project: Early in his career, Lenny Henry's first manager gave him the opportunity to make his television debut on the 20 December 1975 episode. In July 2009, he stated he was contractually obliged to perform and regretted his part in the show, telling The Times in 2015 that his appearance on the show led to a profound "wormhole of depression", and regretted his family not intervening to prevent him from continuing in the show.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: You can probably guess why the programme isn't likely to be made legally available in the digital age. Some footage is available on YouTube and the Internet Archive, including a 1960 episode and most of the 1978 finale.
