• Playing Their Own Twin: In the adaptation of "The Speckled Band", Helen Stoner's twin sister Julia is played, for the single scene in which she appears on screen, by the same actor as Helen, Mariya Solomina.
• Science Marches On: Unlike Doyle (and Holmes), the Russian scriptwriters knew that snakes are deaf, and the adaptation of "The Speckled Band" acknowledges and addresses the issue.
