- California Doubling: The Sultan's palace in Baghdad is actually the Partal Palace of Granada, in Spain. It dates back to Moorish Spain so the Islamic element is still there.
- Creator's Favorite Episode: Producer Charles H. Schneer considered Bernard Herrmann's score to be his best work for one of his and Ray Harryhausen's films.
- Referenced by...:
- The fourth stage of Xena: Warrior Princess have Xena arriving at the beaches of Kronos, only to be attacked by a powerful Cyclops in a direct reference to the iconic Cyclops scene from this film. Said cyclops even looks like an identical twin, right down to having goat-like hooves (visible via the Chakram-cam).
- The DVD of Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas is packaged with an additional animated short, "Cyclops Island," which is a clear homage to the cyclopes of this film. Sinbad even reacts to them with, "Oh, not again!"
- The Angry Beavers episode "Friends, Romans, Beavers!" has a two-eyed cyclopsnote whose design is largely lifted by the one from this film.
- What Could Have Been:
- The film was originally intended to end with a narration stating that Barani, having become a real boy after being released from his role as a genie, would grow up to be a captain like Sinbad and marry a princess of his own.
- Ray Harryhausen initially wanted either Miklos Rozsa or Max Steiner to score the film. Charles H. Schneer persuaded him to hire Bernard Herrmann instead, who would remain for Jason and the Argonauts. That being said, Rozsa ended up scoring the next Sinbad film, The Golden Voyage of Sinbad.
