Trivia / Test Drive Unlimited

Go To

  • B-Team Sequel: Solar Crown is the second game in the Test Drive series developed and published without involvement from Accolade/Infogrames/Atari (the first being Ferrari Racing Legends, developed by Rombax Games), due to the series rights being acquired by Nacon.
  • Executive Meddling: Test Drive Unlimited 2 has the rare distinction of being one of the few sports car racing games to have Ferrari, but not Lamborghini (at least, not officially).
  • Release Date Change: Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown was first announced to be released on 22 September 2022, but it was later bumped to late 2023, and then again to early 2024.
  • Sequel Gap: Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown is scheduled to have a 2024 release, which is twelve years after the last Test Drive title, Ferrari Racing Legends, and thirteen years after TDU2.
  • What Could Have Been: Nacon originally announced that Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown would also be released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, but it was announced in May 2022 that Kylotonn decided to drop those platforms to focus on taking advantage of the newest hardware. Bizarrely, they've so far opted not to cancel the Nintendo Switch version, despite that system running on even less powerful hardware than either the PS4 or the Xbox One.
