Trivia / Ted 2

Go To

  • The Cast Showoff: When the trio are stranded at the pot farm, Amanda Seyfried really sings Samantha's song. "Mean Ol' Moon" was written especially for this movie, and the lyrics were penned by Seth MacFarlane. In an interview with USA Today, Seyfried said, "It took like a week, but we did it, and it actually works."
  • Celebrity Voice Actor: Just as he did in the European French dub of the first film, rapper/actor JoeyStarr (of Suprême NTM fame) voiced Ted in this film's dub.
  • Creator Killer: The lukewarm reception to both this film and A Million Ways to Die in the West seems to have put the breaks on Seth’s cinematic career, as he seems to have gone back to television and hasn’t directed another movie since then.
  • Franchise Killer: Ted 2 seems to have killed any chances of a Ted 3 and the overall Ted franchise to continue until 2021 when a spin-off TV show was announced for Peacock.
  • Missing Trailer Scene: There's a part in the trailer where Ted, John, and Sam are being pursued by some villains in a car, only for the villains to get plowed by a truck, causing their car to explode, yet it's nowhere in the film. It does appear in the unrated version.
  • Role-Ending Misdemeanor: Stephen Collins had a small role. He was replaced after a child sex abuse video confession.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • The original plot had John and Ted driving a large shipment of marijuana cross-country. This was scrapped when We're the Millers came out.
    • Mila Kunis did not come back to play Lori because she was pregnant. In an early draft of the script, someone mentioned that Lori died between the two movies. That idea was considered too depressing, so it was changed to John and Lori getting divorced.
