Trivia / Taskmaster (U.S.)

Go To

  • Creator Backlash: Alex Horne has spoken out against the final product, saying that Comedy Central asked for too many changes and he was too willing to make them. On the other hand, Alex has nothing but praise for Reggie Watts and the panel, saying he'd be happy to welcome them onto the UK version. Greg Davies, the original UK series' titular Taskmaster, agreed with Horne's statements.
  • Creator's Oddball: Freddie Highmore was a surprising pick for US Taskmaster given his aversion to appearing on comedy-focused programs in general. However, his performance showed he was a surprisingly good pick for the program.
  • Promoted Fanboy: Freddie Highmore said that he was excited to participate in the adaptation because he was a fan of the original.
  • Screwed by the Network: Comedy Central gave the show a half-hour slot, meaning that the prize task had to be trimmed down into an individual prize submission, less time was spent on studio segments, and team tasks were cut entirely. This meant that there were fewer opportunities for the contestants' to riff and argue during episodes, removing one of the major charms of the original. After all this, Comedy Central decided to burn off the episodes two at a time, anyway, meaning that there was space in the schedule for hour-long episodes, but the channel didn't want to give it, at first.
