Trivia / Superjail S 2 E 3 Lord Stingray Crash Party

Go To

  • Acting for Two: Though the characters have limited dialogue, Chris McCulloch is Cook Out, Rip Tide, and some minor "Stars N' Stripes" personnel that appeared earlier in the episode. He's also in his usual inmate roles of Paul and Nicky.
  • Executive Meddling: Mistress Kilda's death scene got a few notes from the network to be censored, although the only thing the crew remembers is that her organs had to be colored differently to tone down the brutality (hence why her innards appear a pastel yellow).
  • The Other Marty: Chris McCulloch was the original voice of Stingray, and his take made it as far as to an early animation test. However, he was recast later in production, as he voiced the character too similar to the Monarch and executives thought the characters seemed a little too identical.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • There was a sequence that had to go that involved Alice having sex with all the Stars N Stripes members on their way back to the Superjail. Christy Karacas explained that her anger at their deaths was based off of this part. He also said that Mistress Kilda and Catastro originally both had a little more to do, and that he slightly regretted having to kill off the Stars N Stripes.
    • According to the commentary, Stingray's cellmate originally had a different line of dialogue ("Bend over, bitch!") in the animatic, which was redubbed and changed to "Shut the fuck up!" in the post-production period.
    • A season 2 "Behind the scenes" video (at 0:15-17) showed a brief glimpse of the animatic for the episode, in which the Stars N Stripes and Kilda had much different designs. Although they're hard to clearly make out given the brief timing of the shot and the video quality, Kilda was to originally outright resemble the Baroness and have long hair and glasses, as well as being dressed in a catsuit. Alice also didn't appear to be present in the shot with the Stars N Stripes, nor did one of Stingray's henchmen that was put there in Tom Marsan's layout and the final product.
    • Matt Taylor's original layout for the playground opening had a little girl on a swing. For some reason or another, she was removed and the layout was revised for the finished product.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: Viewers can probably assume that Catastro died in the standoff between Stingray's soldiers and the inmates, although unlike Kilda, his fate isn't directly shown. This might also be the result of having to cut a possible death scene, as the episode had to be trimmed. Alternatively, he may have also been killed when the Warden and inmates crashed through the wall, although this is a debated point by fans since a death isn't outright shown (although he seems to quickly vanish from the office scene anyway).
