The Freedom Gundam is based on the Villkiss in V, due to the relationship between Coordinators and the Ancient People. The English localization, however, obscured this as the relevant lines for The Reveal is mangled.
In the back-story, the Meganoids all died fighting Exev; the circumstances of the battle are unclear, but it was close enough that Banjo Haran and company almost mistook the outcome for the opposite (i.e. Exev disappeared because of the Meganoids, not the other way around).
The manipulations caused by Black Noir (many of which wound up being botched) include:
Attempting (and failing) to eradicate the Jin Family and the Zambot 3 crew. By the time V begins, Uchuta Kamie and Keiko Kamikita are alive; unfortunately, the Jins are down to only Kappei and his older brother Ichitaro.
Seeding "Gekiganger 3" into the life of Akito Tenkawa in an attempt to create a hero similar to Might Senpuji. This fails by the time the events of Prince of Darkness occurs, and Akito's distinct boundaries between fiction and reality settled in.
Using Embryo as an Unwitting Pawn, but to what extent is unknown; however, Black Noir describes him as an "interesting clown". Manipulation can range from annihilating the Ancient People, the Fantastic Racism of the Mana populace, or even his mad harem plans in the process of destroying the three worlds.
According to Word of God, the Wave-Motion Gun of the Yamato being unusable for most of the game is due to the request of the Space Battleship Yamato 2199 production team, who asked B.B. Studios to avoid using the weapon on people.
Tusk will sometimes say "This is my range!" when using the Dragon Slayer. He even has a special quote when performing a Support Attack with Setsuna.
Nine is known for voicing 1-402 from Arpeggio of Blue Steel, like her sister unit 1-401, she would align herself with humanity to understand them better.
Subverted intentionally with the regular edition: although there's no news whether it will be released outside of Southeast Asia or not, the Asian version of the game was released in multiple languages, one of them being English. Since the systems it's on (Sony PlayStation 4, Sony PlayStation Vita and Nintendo Switch) all lack any form of Region Coding, English-speaking fans from anywhere in the world can import the game from major SEA markets (usually Hong Kong or Singapore) and run it just fine. No fan translation or anything else required!
Worth noting in particular is the fact that Singapore's PlayStation Network (which is part of the SEA region) is entirely in English. Thus, making a Singaporean online account is ridiculously simple for pretty much any English speaker interested in buying the game digitally (especially when compared to making a Japanese PlayStation Network account). So long as prospective players find a website selling Singapore PlayStation Network cards ("Play-Asia", for example), V can be purchased online digitally, along with any of its Downloadable Content.
Played straight with the "Premium Anime Song & Sound Edition", which is only available in Japanese due to licensing concerns. While this won't stop someone from playing the English version of the regular edition by subbing in said licensed tracks as custom BGM, they don't get the extra slots provided by the additional tracks. Furthermore, events in the Premium edition have been altered appropriately such that the game will call up the licensed tracks as needed during gameplay.
Played straight with the Steam version, which is only available in Asian territories.
By Word of God, Space Battleship Yamato 2199 was requested previously, but was shelved because it isn't a Humongous Mecha show. However, an unnamed higher-up in Bandai Namco proposed to feature a line-up with Unexpected Characters and new challenges, one of which is the approval of Space Battleship Yamato getting in. Even former Super Robot Wars series producer Takenobu Terada was surprised the publisher allowed this to happen.
DRAGONs such as Salamandinay, Naga and Kaname were supposed to be playable alongside their "Ryu-Shin-Ki" units. In the game itself only Sala is playable, with Naga and Kaname appearing as Assist Characters. However, some lines for the latter two as individual characters are still found in the game's code. Due to a localization mishap in the English version, battle quotes for Chris, when she becomes an enemy, is replaced with some of those lines.
